It's Been Awhile - 2007/11/03 13:34Hello there!! I am a Medical Student at St. Louis University and had a question about staying current. I have my A license, but ever since the beginning of med school I haven't been able to get any jumps in for close to a year now. How would I go about getting current again. Thank you so much for your help. I'm excited to join this skydiving community.

I can think of probably 6 or 8 instructors who will be there on Sunday and would be more than glad to work with you on your recurrency. I'm a nurse and maybe I should do the recurrency being that you and I are the only one there who know what a Bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy is... Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. Now how many of you who read this will google this just to know what it is!!!

Re:It's Been Awhile - 2007/11/07 12:25Ok, the cat is out of the bag... When I was in nursing school this surgical procedure was an extra credit question on a test. Well I missed it and it will for ever be ingrained into my skull.
Secondly, it's not my fault that I keep landing off... Every time that we take off in the plane someone keeps moving the DZ further away. I wish they would just leave it where it is at.
Eric, if you want we can just shoot you a deer off the runway at the DZ... Bring your gun out this weekend and you can skydive and kill your deer...

I know it's illegal to hunt from a motorized vehical, but how about from a parachute? I could take my .308 up with me and hunt while I'm looking for a soft spot "Off Field" to land in!

Re:It's Been Awhile - 2007/11/07 22:48What time do these shenanigans usually start? I'm new to Missouri but as far as hunting goes, why use a fire arm when you have the height advantage. A couple bricks on the head should get you a nice buck. Don't think you'll be able to salvage the rack though.
The DZ will be up and running at 9am tomorrow - most of us stay out there for the whole weekend and you're more then welcome to join us. I won't be there until about 3, so everyone will understand if you don't want to get there until later in the afternoon Just kidding - hope you make it out this weekend!

Turkey Hunting, Deer Hunting, Golf, etc. used to be things I looked forward to. Now, I look for ways to avoid those so that I can join you guys and jump! Maybe I can "Go Long" on my spot, jump and try to find one in freefall and then try to land on it with my canopy and scare him to death. It might take me a bunch of jumps to succeed but it's gotta be a whole lot cheaper than running my truck into one! EG

At least that way a "Part of me" can get a turbine fix this weekend? Nah, better not, with a canopy the size of mine, she'll probably fly all the way back to St. Louis and have to have someone bring her car and rig back to her.
