Beech Boogie NOW September 19th -21st - 2008/09/07 13:27 Due to the forecast for this weekend, the 2nd Annual Beech boogie has been moved to September 19th-21st. I'll post more about GOONs, etc. as I learn more.

******

The Beech boogie is almost here, and we're working hard to finalize plans. In addition to our favorite airplane flying all weekend, we're doing a luau on Saturday night complete with a deep-fried turkey and fruity drinks. The GOONs will be out on Saturday with Calvin, and Paul's promised to do some organizing.

Since it's Neil's birthday, we're having a friendly Texas Hold-em Tournament Saturday night. The game will start at 9pm, with a beginner's lesson at 8:30pm.

As always, no registration fee.

Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/10 20:50 Hello loyal fun-jumpers!

I'm not sure what to do about this weekend since the forecast looks pretty bleak:

Friday -- Showers and thunderstorms likely. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Saturday -- Showers and thunderstorms likely. Chance of rain 60 percent.
Sunday -- Cloudy with chance of showers. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Should we delay the boogie for a week (rain delay), or should we go ahead and have as much fun as possible?

Thanks so much for your imput!
Jo

Re:Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/10 21:35 I'm good with either weekend. Because of the forecast, I think the following weekend would be better. Sounds like this weekend is going to be a washout. Talk to everyone soon.

Re:Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/10 22:15 Well I work every other weekend, but you can't fly if it's raining. I am glad I am not a DZO. Anyway, whatever you decide just post it, I will be up there no matter what, looks like I will get there SAT. With that forecast it may be better to back it up a week

Re:Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/11 05:25 Well, I vote for next weekend. It might partly be selfishness on my part though! I'm trying my best to get home before the weekend, but it looks like I might not make it home till Saturday or Sunday. I miss you all a bunch! Nonetheless, this has been quite the adventure.

For those of you who don't know, I'm on my way to Amsterdam to deliver a factory-new Cessna to a customer here. I was asked last Thursday to deliver the airplane and my adventurous side just couldn't say no. By Friday afternoon, I was halfway across Canada. After a hop (okay a very long hop) to Greenland, Iceland, and then Norway, I am now in Berlin. The airplane is being de-tanked today (it had been fitted with a ferry tank to give it a 20-hour range) and I am heading to Amsterdam tomorrow. I'll write up a full report, with pictures when I get home.

I hope all is well with everyone back home!

See you soon!

Can't make it next Saturday, but if you move the Boogie it's not a problem.
Good luck Paul, how you getting home, slow boat?

Re:Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/11 09:48 I vote for the boogie to be moved back a weekend. I will be out both weekends so it really does not matter to me but I see the best shot for a kick ass boogie would be the following weekend.

Re:Weather -- Need a rain-date? - 2008/09/11 16:09 Well it looks as though another hurricane is going to wash everything away for the weekend. It also gives another week to make this boogie even better. Either way this or next I will be there. Till then,
Peace Out
Tj

We've got 11 tandems, all with video, scheduled on Friday starting at noon on Friday, so that will be good for at least 5 Beech loads.
