Hello to everyone - 2008/03/19 15:15 I've been reading this forum for several months but never introduced myself. I feel like I know you all very well, so I thought it was only fair that you get to know me a little.

I've only been jumping for a year but I am very passionate about our wonderful sport. I look forward to jumping with, and learning from all of you very soon!

Re:Hello to everyone - 2008/03/19 16:28 Welcome aboard !!! Hopefully we can meet you in person soon. You will love the Drop Zone, NOT to mention the great Beech 99 aircraft.

You say you have been jumping one year. I am not sure how many jumps you have and this might not interest you but, Paul, the DZ owner is going to give a Free Canopy Control Course (April 19th and 26th).It is listed in the forum under DZ Events. Or you can click the link below.

We also have a Season Opener Boogie on April 4th - 6th. Below is the link to the DZ Events for 2008.

Re:Hello to everyone - 2008/03/20 20:33 Thanks guys! I have 60 jumps so far and am very interested in the Canopy Skills courses. Unfortunately I already have a family "camping" commitment the weekend of April 19th. However, I am available on the 26th, so count me in! I’m not quite ready for the swoop landings, but I would like to know how it’s done so I can gradually ease into it.
I’ll also try to make it to BG for the boogie in a couple weeks.

Re:Hello to everyone - 2008/03/31 06:44 Hey Mike, Hopefully you can make this one....

The dates for the canopy control courses have changed; they'll be later in the season so more people can attend.

May 31st - Free Canopy Skills Camp
Come learn to have more fun with your canopy while practicing important safety and survival skills. Paul will discuss basic aerodynamics, effective flaring techniques, and help you improve your flight planning, traffic pattern, and accuracy skills. You’ll learn techniques for dealing with problems such as bad spots and off-field landings, as well as becoming more aware of other canopies. learn ways to avoid crowding and confusion in the landing area. This is a great way for newer jumpers to develop good habits and good basic canopy piloting skills. Best of all, it’s free! To sign up, please email joanna@skydivestlouis.com or come by manifest.

June 7th - Free Advanced Canopy Skills Camp
This is for jumpers who want to start practicing high-performance landings and for more experienced swoopers who want to improve their consistency and control. Although anyone can attend, you will benefit the most if you are already achieving consistent, comfortable, stand-up landings and feel reasonably confident under canopy. Jumpers who do not want to swoop can still attend and spend the day improving their accuracy skills. To sign up, please email joanna@skydivestlouis.com or come by manifest.
