Thanks - 2007/03/13 15:54 Hey Everybody:

I just wanted to say thanks one more time to all of you for a great time on Saturday. It was wonderful seeing everybody and watching the canopies fly over Sullivan once again. I had no idea I was going to receive the Annual Safety Award. I bet it is the first time in history somebody in a wheelchair got a safety award. It was quite an honor.

Had I been making a safety presentation this year, one of the things I would have done is thank everybody for being so cooperative last season. We only had a few issues and they were very easily resolved. However, no discussion of safety at QL would be complete without talking about the safety culture that existed before I ever started jumping. The Sky Gods that taught me to skydive (I won't name names, but we all know who they are,) were all responsible for setting and maintaining a culture of safety. I am confident that the current and incoming crop of Sky Gods will maintain the safety standards that make QL the best DZ in the world.

I also want to thank all of you for all the help and support you have given me since the accident. Hopefully, you all know who you are and what you have done for me. But I want to make sure you know that you have shown me I am a part of something bigger and more important than myself. I need to be reminded of that from time to time. And while I wish I had better words to thank all of you, my hope is that you know how important your generosity has been, and that is why you have given it so freely.

Blue skies

Re:Thanks - 2007/03/20 14:17 Steve,

You are a Skygod - (well at least to me you are!)

You taught people how to sucessfully and safely skydive. I know that I speak for all of us - we are thankful that you are still with us. We all look forward to those nice Saturday afternoons when you will be able to make it out and visit.

Re:Thanks - 2007/04/16 19:06 My favorite, I'll call it 'Steveism', is "Am I high or am I low?" I was on radio, learning to make landing decisions on my own, a question I still hear in my head on entering every landing pattern.... Thanks Steve!
