First Time Jumpers

Get ready for the most exciting
time of your life!

The St. Louis Skydiving Center offers several first-jump options to fit every individual.

By far the most popular is a tandem skydive, which is the right choice if you are looking to "do it once," or if you wish to work toward your skydiving license.

Please note: To make any student skydive, you must be at least 18 years of age and weigh 225 lbs or less.

TANDEM SKYDIVE

First St. Louis Skydive

During a tandem skydive you are securely attached to your United States Parachute Association (USPA) licensed tandem instructor, whose vast skydiving experience will ensure you get the most out of your freefall adventure.

After a training session with your instructor, you will board one of our turbine engine-equipped aircraft for your fast climb to 12,500 feet (2 miles) above the ground. After receiving your final safety checks, you and your instructor will exit the aircraft and then experience approximately 45 seconds of freefall before you or your instructor deploy a parachute specially designed for two people. After enjoying an amazing view of the Mississippi River Valley and Mark Twain State Park under the parachute, you will then work with your instructor to fly the parachute back for a landing right in front of the observation area at the airport. If you purchased a video package, you will be able to watch it approximately 30 minutes after landing.

AFF SKYDIVE

AFF is the most advanced method of training individuals to skydive, and is typically chosen by people with previous skydiving experience.

Before your first skydive you will attend a training class that is about six hours long. This course will teach you the fundamentals of skydiving.

Your jump is made in the company of two certified AFF instructors who provide direct assistance during the exit and freefall. You will have the opportunity to deploy your own parachute. Once your parachute is open, you will control a solo parachute descent back to the dropzone with some assistance from the St. Louis Skydiving Center staff via our ground-to-air communication system.
