Quantum Leap Weekly Update April 2nd, 2007 |

Despite an
iffy-at-best forecast, we all had a blast last weekend! The Super Otter flew
eight loads for the weekend, and there was a great turnout. We enjoyed seeing
new faces and catching up with old friends.

Sean Hutto was
organizing freefly loads all weekend, complete with hybrids and a tracking dive
on the sunset load on Sunday. Calvin and the GOONS were also out on Sunday, and
I saw several of the staff members sneaking on his loads to do some first-rate
belly-flying.

And of course
the Saturday-night party at the campground was great! Keith did a wonderful job
hooking the skydivers up with backpackers and other big names in eco-tourism,
and I think we may have convinced a couple of them to try skydiving. The
barbeque was fantastic, and the Boulevard beer flowed all night. I heard rumors of people
hanging from the rafters in the shed, and we won’t even talk about Joe Jackson’s
truck…. When we called it a night early Sunday morning, there was still a large crowd hanging around the bonfire.

I’m sorry to
report that the Beech 99 will not be here this weekend. Carolina SkySports, who
is installing the landing gear, hasn’t been able to finish it yet. They are incredibly apologetic for the numerous delays and promise that it will be ready next week. On the bright side, once the work is done, the airplane will be here for good. All of the maintenance will be done locally, so we won't have to fly it off to North Carolina to have any future work done. For those of you who need to get a turbine fix in this weekend, Chicagoland Skydiving Center is having their season-opener boogie with a PAC-750XL and Archway has their Caravan back.
