Quantum Leap Weekly Update August 21st, 2007

I’d like to start by thanking everyone for pitching in and making the dropzone such a wonderful place.  Whether it’s starting the plane, restocking the paper towels in the bathroom, or packing a rig, I couldn’t have made it through these past weekends without the help of everyone else.  In addition, we’ve had several new jumpers comment on what a positive vibe the d.z. has, and how much they enjoy spending time here.  That’s due in large part to the great group of jumpers we have.  Thanks for making the dropzone such a special place!

Congratulations to Dave Ternes for making jump number 2000!  Dave usually jumps with us in Kansas City, but came up to Bowling Green for a turbine fix and hit 2000.  Be sure to check out the wonderful picture Steve McAnulty took to commemorate the event; it's up in manifest.

Speaking of Steve, he has volunteered to create and maintain a photo gallery in the office.  If you have any photos you would like displayed, or if you have any extra picture frames or plexi-glass, please see Jo or Steve.

You’ll see another face in manifest in the upcoming weekends.  Ashley Kassler has agreed to work in manifest part-time to give me a chance to get “out of the box” and do some jumping.  I can’t wait to join in on some of the awesome skydives people are putting together!

Speaking of awesome skydives, Calvin will be out this Saturday, along with the rest of the GOON SQUAD, to put together some fun sequential skydives.  Be sure to join in on the fun.  In addition to some RW fun, we will have several CRW-dogs out this weekend, so if you’re interested in getting into some canopy relative work, be sure to be out this weekend.  We will also be doing night jumps this Saturday.  The briefing will begin at sunset in the hangar.  You must have made at least one jump during the day on Saturday in order to participate and please be sure to bring glow-sticks with you.

We would also like to welcome Dustin Smith to the Quantum Leap family.  A couple of weeks ago, Sparky brought Dustin out for his first tandem and he has now completed a total of 8 skydives and is well on his way to getting his license.

The Beech will be back tomorrow afternoon after a short stop in Atlanta for some regular maintenance, and Joe Jackson has put together a group of jumpers for some midweek jumping.  They plan to be out at 4pm.
