Quantum Leap Weekly Update February 23rd, 2007 |
 |
While last Saturday brought high winds, low clouds, and cold temperatures, Sunday couldn’t have been any better. At 9am the ground was still covered in snow, but by the time the first load had gone up about 10am, all of the snow had melted. The temperatures continued to rise all day under a sunny sky with a light warm breeze. We could tell that people were anxious to jump, because everyone was packing up and remanifesting as soon as they hit the ground. Many thanks to Dave Salaz for flying the Cessna all day! |

Safety Day is just two weeks away. Activities will start at 9am on March 10th and will include workshops and seminars with the GOON SQUAD as well as the rest of the QL staff. This is open to everyone and all jumpers are encouraged to actively participate. We will, of course, also be jumping and continuing the activities into the evening. Saturday night we will have free food, drinks, camping, and bonfires over at the campground. If you have any comments or suggestions, please post them over in the forum. |

The Beech 99 is scheduled to be here March 24th. This will be Quantum Leap’s full-time jump plane next season. For those of you that haven’t had the opportunity to jump it yet, this plane rocks! The standard 550 horsepower engines have been replaced with 680 hp engines, making it the fastest jump plane in the Midwest. It will take 20 jumpers to 14,000 feet in under 10 minutes! In addition to that, it has a door bigger than an Otter, making exits a breeze. It is currently undergoing an extensive overhaul to the engines, props, and landing gear to make sure that it is in top shape for the upcoming season. For those of you who thought it was fast last year, it will be even faster this year!
The 50 jump and 100 jump packages have been a huge success! To those of you that haven’t purchased one or are considering purchasing one, your last opportunity to buy one will be March 25th. |

Be sure to mark your calendars for the “Quantum Leap’s Back Boogie” March 30th through April 1st. We will have free RW and freefly load organizing as well as a great party on Saturday evening, including free food, drinks, and entertainment. Let’s get the season kicked off in style! We will be advertising the boogie in Skydiving Magazine and dropzone.com, but be sure to tell all of your friends about it! |

Jen is working on putting together a 4-way and 10-way RW team to represent Quantum Leap next year, so if you are interested, be sure to contact her. We will be offering partial sponsorships and team rates to any team in any skydiving discipline. For more information, contact Paul. |

We are looking forward to an awesome season and we want to thank all of you for working to keep Quantum Leap open! |
