Quantum Leap Weekly Update March 19th, 2007 |

Although the forecast for Saturday was promising, it didn't quite turn out as expected (see the photo below). What started out as a clear day quickly deteriorated into low clouds and blowing snow. Thankfully, the day wasn't a complete loss as it gave us a chance to do a refresher course for several experienced jumpers who hadn't jumped in a while. |
Sunday morning brought sunny skies and weather that got progressively better. As the temperature rose, more and more people arrived at the DZ. We had quite a few new faces around the DZ, including a group of jumpers from England. The plane flew steadily all day long as people took advantage of the nice weather, and we had a blast. I was even able to get a few fun jumps in myself, including a couple of jumps with Jose. It was great to see everyone who came out on Sunday! |
We were also able to help one jumper make the last five jumps necessary to qualify for his USPA A-license, making him the first student of the season to obtain a license with us. |
For those of you dreaming of turbine jumps, please note that the Beech will not quite be ready for this weekend. The landing gear was delayed coming back from Beechcraft and won't be in until Friday, so chances are slim to none that it will be ready to fly jumpers this weekend. The Beech 99 will definitely be ready to go for the boogie (and, just in case we need it, we've also contracted a Super Otter to be here that weekend). If the response that we've received for the boogie is any indication, we may end up needing two turbines to keep up with the demand. |
The boogie will officially start at noon on Friday, March 30th, so be sure to come out for some Friday afternoon fun! We'll be opening at 8am on Saturday and expect the first load to be in the air shortly thereafter. More details on the boogie can be found at www.skydivestlouis.com. |
As always, we look forward to seeing you at the DZ! |
