Quantum Leap Weekly Update October 30th, 2007

Wow - time flies when you’re having fun! It seems like just yesterday we were rolling out the Cessna for some chilly February jumps… We’re proud to say a lot has happened in the past 10 months as the dropzone has grown in leaps and bounds: our staff has grown from four tandem instructors and four AFF instructors to ten tandem instructors and nine AFF instructors; our fun-jumper base has more than tripled; and we continue to make newly-licensed jumpers every day.

While we’d love to say, “Thanks for a great season and that we look forward to next year,” we can’t. Our season is still in full-swing! With full loads flying all of last weekend, we knew even the cooler weather won’t slow down our jumpers. Since we just had four more jumpers pay for the complete A-license package, we know the student business isn’t slowing down either!

As most of you know, we had planned for the Beech to go to Texas this winter, but with business still booming, we’ve decided to keep it here through the winter. (It didn’t hurt that the fun jumpers begged and pleaded for the Beech to stay!) This means the GOONs will be out organizing through the winter. Also, stay tuned for some excellent winter specials and details on The Midwest Freeze Fest in February.

With the end of Daylight Savings Time, the dropzone is now technically on a winter schedule; open Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday. With that being said, we are still available seven days a week: if there is a nice-weather Tuesday (like today) just give us a call and we’ll organize some weekday jumping. As always, the weekday minimum on the Cessna is just two jumpers, and the weekday minimum to get the Beech in the air is only four.

Thanks to everyone who came out last weekend for our annual Halloween party! In addition to great jumps all weekend, Mark Cook prepared an awesome deep-fried turkey on Saturday night, which we enjoyed with great costumes and a raging bonfire. The overall costume contest winner is Daniel “D.N.R.” Robertson for his freaky, freaky costume.

The St. Louis Skydiving Center had a “first” of its own this weekend – two jumpers completed their A-licenses on the same day! Both Daniel and Deb completed their A-license cards on Sunday, and we’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of them in the upcoming months.

See you this weekend – the GOONs will be here too! Paul and Jo

P.S. W’d like to thank Mark Cook and Greg “Baglock” Palmer for contributing many of the photos used in this update.
