Skydiving Center Weekly Update July 7th, 2008

I’m starting to think that the busy season is here! This weekend was non-stop and I know I’m not speaking for just myself when I say man did it feel good! Paul flew an excruciating 54 loads this weekend and didn’t even complain! Wait a second, of course he didn’t complain, he sat on his rear end for 3 days straight and even had lunch delivered to him!

The weekend was off to a quick start Friday morning with tandems strolling in pretty early. We were turning the 182 all day long and really gave our instructors a work out this weekend.

We had a memorable bunch visiting us from Columbia, MO. Mick and Helen were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and decided what better way to do so then jump out of an airplane. We are glad they did too – they were a riot! We look forward to having them back out again, next time they say they are bringing a busload!

Saturday morning the USPA coach course was underway with Bram and 7 coach course candidates. All those fun jumpers in the class really helped us out too – we needed the space to load up the plane with more tandems and AFF students!

We were able to take a break ½ way through the day on Saturday so that Chuck could make his 100th skydive! WOO HOO BROTHER! You rock! Chuck paid his dues before him and Shelly left this weekend too – I’m pretty sure someone around here has some photos of Chuck Ala Whipped Cream – POST EM UP!

We have a new A license skydive from BG this weekend. Congrats to Melissa – Girl – you are a machine. Great job on knocking out so many skydives at once. I’m glad I got Mark and John to stop hogging you so we could make a couple coach jumps – I look forward to jumping with you in the hopefully not so distant future.

Ashley, Neil’s better half, got to do her 2nd skydive this weekend and is well on her way through tandem progression! Ashley and Tracey – you two ladies need to hurry up with it so I can start taking you our for coach jumps! Of course I may end up doing the video instead – I have the feeling the coach slots are going to be a hot item with you two

Sunday was a fun day for me! Thanks to a good on the ground lesson with John Wall, I’m starting to really know what I’m doing under canopy! I made 8 jumps on my new Stiletto 107 this weekend and you could barely get the thing off of me. It’s a good thing I transitioned just in time too – we were running back to back loads on video and I was dropping gear in the landing area and running to meet the plane with a back up rig. Did I mention we were busy this weekend? Thanks again John for all of your help with my canopy work! I was so glad that in trade for all your know how I got the chance to teach you something.... You can finally ride a bike, I'm so proud! You are doing fantastic! At the rate you are progressing we will have those training wheels off by next weekend! Look at the man go!

Mark was seen taking rides on Paul’s Xaos 78 this weekend. I have the feeling that the canopy was thankful for the airtime – now that Paul just sits in the pilot seat all day long it’s not seeing much wind. Mark was quoted as calling the canopy a "little twitchy" when asked how he liked it.... Uhhh... YA THINK?! Mark you make it look way too easy!

Sunday came to end with 2 brand new coaches in our BG family!!! HUGE congrats to Julie and Kerry on your USPA coach ratings!! You guys are going to do a great job working with our up and coming students.

For those keeping track, Sean and I are pretty much neck and neck on our race to the 00! In the next couple weeks one of us should be reaching the next 100 mark – I wonder what Sean is going to look like hanging from the strut in the “jumpsuit” I pick out for him….

Again - BIG MONSTER THANKS to our fabulous staff. Paul, you did a great job not peeing for practically 3 days straight just so we could turn loads, we appreciate it! Joanna, you kept track of over 50 loads for us, no easy task! Mark, Brian, and Mark, WOO HOO! You guys kept that ball rollin this weekend! Tracey, thank you for coming out to the landing area to help me with my gear even when I wasn't on the load! And Cory, running out to video my landing, you rock dude. This weekend reminded me what skydiving is all about - family and friends, being safe and having fun. I can't wait until we try and top it again this weekend...

WOO HOOO!

XOXO
Ash
